Two years ago Tim Thomas (Will Smith) was in a car crash, which was caused by him using his mobile phone; seven people died: six strangers and his fiancйe, Sarah Jenson (Robinne Lee).

Movie opens with Tim (now using his bother's name -Ben) making a 911 call to report a suicide - his. Then we see Ben at the IRS building researching. Next his brother calls him, Ben asks if he's smoking again - he says no. His brother asks if he took anything while he was staying there, Ben says no but he remembers giving him something.
